The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers has once again come to the support of former Qwest chief executive Joe Nacchio, whose insider-trading conviction is being reviewed by the full 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The trial judge wrongfully excluded expert testimony from the defense while allowing the government to call its own experts during the case, damaging the integrity of the judicial process, the criminal lawyers association said in documents filed Tuesday.

The group also filed documents to support Nacchio during the initial three-judge appellate-panel review of Nacchio's conviction.  The panel tossed the conviction, but the appeals court has granted the government's request for a full review.
