Medical insurer renews partnership

UnitedHealthcare, the second-largest medical insurer in
Colorado, has renewed its contract with Exempla
Healthcare, continuing a partnership that affects about 750,000
UnitedHealthcare provides medical coverage to some of the
largest employers in the state, including Qwest Communications,
Xcel Energy, the state of Colorado, Denver
Public Schools and Jefferson County
Public Schools, a
spokeswoman said Monday.
The agreement takes effect Jan. 1 and is set to expire at the
end of 2010. The two companies have had a business
partnership since 1995.
Exempla Healthcare manages Lutheran Medical Center
in Wheat Ridge,
St. Joseph Hospital
in Denver and Good Samaritan Medical
Center in Lafayette.
The agreement also gives UnitedHealthcare members access to more
than 60 doctors in the Exempla Physician Network.
