Local telcos take beating

Local telco stocks have been battered amid the recent financial turmoil.

Shares of Broomfield-based Level 3 Communications have sunk below $2, and Qwest Communications stock is trading at around $2.50 today.

Qwest was trading at nearly $7 in early January.  Level 3 opened the year at $3 but was up to $3.44 in mid-September before the Lehman Brothers collapse and recent chain of events.
